Giving Birth to Thanksgiving

James 1:13-18 provides a contrast of two ways that we can live our lives. We can seek to fulfil our desires apart from God and in ways that God has forbidden, giving birth to sin (v. 15), or we can give birth to thanks by living in recognition of our Good God as the source of every good and perfect gift (v.17). As we approach the season of Thanksgiving, may God’s words from James1:2-18 help us cultivate a habit of expressing gratitude as we acknowledge the goodness of God that is given to us in various ways.
