Praying for One Another
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” – Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)
One of the things I try to remember each week when I come into our time of corporate worship is that every person is coming in dealing with something. No one comes to church unaffected by the circumstances of the past week. It could be a disappointment over something hoped for that didn’t happen. It could be relational pain caused by a family member. It could be stress from work. Whatever the source, all of us have pressure points of varying degrees every week.
One of the best ministries each of us possesses is to pray for one another. And one of the best ways to know how to pray for others is to be involved in their lives. Living alongside each other in Christian community is important because it keeps us in close proximity to others, so that we know how to specifically pray for them. Let’s continue our commitment to living together in community in this new year, knowing that this provides opportunities for us to minister to one another through prayer.
